Storm Signs Sparks

Press Release

The Guelph Storm Hockey Club announced today that Garrett Sparks, the team's 8th round draft pick in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection, has signed an Ontario Hockey League contract with the team.

Sparks, a 6.00, 185 lbs goaltender, had an impressive year with the Chicago Mission under-18 team this past season. Posting a 19-7-0-3 record, the 17 year old put up a 1.98 goals against average and a .907 save percentage. He backstopped his team to a 7-1 victory over the Philadelphia Junior Flyers to win the U.S. under-18 National Championship.

In May, the Elmhurst, IL native joined the rest of the Storm prospects at the annual Prospect Day held at the University of Guelph.

Sparks will attend Storm training camp beginning Wednesday August 31st.
