Dallas Signs Glennie

Press Release

Frisco, Tex. - The National Hockey League's Dallas Stars have announced that the club has signed Brandon Wheat Kings' right wing Scott Glennie to a three-year entry-level contract.

"We are excited to reach an agreement with Scott (Glennie)," Stars' Joe Nieuwendyk said. "He is a skilled player that we have seen develop very quickly over the past year. We are expecting great things from him as he continues progressing toward the NHL."

Glennie, 19, has spent the past three seasons with the Wheat Kings and helped Brandon to this year's Memorial Cup Championship Final against the Windsor Spitfires.

The eighth overall selection in last year's NHL Entry Draft, the Winnipeg product finished among the club scoring leaders this past season with 32 goals and 89 points in 66 games. As well, he added three goals and 10 points in fifteen playoff games.

The 6-1, 185-pound forward, who was a second round bantam draft choice of the Wheat Kings, has played in 182 WHL games, recording 217 points including 86 goals. Glennie has finished in the top 30 in WHL scoring in each of the past two seasons and finished fifth in rookie scoring in 2007-08. He also helped Brandon reach the WHL Conference Finals in each of the past two seasons and has tallied 29 points (7g, 22a) in 33 career WHL playoff games.

Glennie becomes the fifth member of last year's club to sign NHL contracts over the course of the past four months, joining Brayden Schenn (Los Angeles), Matt Calvert (Columbus), Colby Robak (Florida) and Travis Hamonic (New York Islanders).

Financial terms of Glennie's new contract were not released.
