Cougars Broadcasts Remain on 993 The Drive

Press Release

The Prince George Cougars are pleased to announce that a new three year broadcast agreement has been reached with The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group. The contract ensures all of the Cougars regular season and playoff games will be aired live on 993 The Drive.

The 2010-11 campaign marks the 17th season Cougars broadcasts will be aired on the radio network, which was originally 550 CKPG in the Cougars inaugural 1994-95 season in Prince George.
“We have always worked closely with The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group and we’re delighted to see that continue for the next three years,” said Cougars Vice President Brandi Brodsky. “It is a priority for the Cougars organization to provide our fans the ability to follow the team on the road and at home. Working with The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group allows us to do that at the highest level.”

Jim Pattison Broadcast Group General Manager General Manager, Ken Kilcullen says, “we are very excited about continuing our partnership with the Cougars organization. We are looking forward to providing our listeners and customers with live play by play coverage on 993 The Drive through the 2012-2013 season.”

Like the original partnership between the hockey club and broadcaster, the voice of the Cougars will once again be an employee of the team. Andy Neal, color commentator the past two seasons who handles Corporate Sales and Broadcasting, will take over the duties as play-by-play announcer. Prior to joining the Cougars in December, 2008, Neal had play-by-play experience in Junior A league’s in British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Neal’s most recent play-by-play work took place in 2009 during the Enbridge Northern Gateway World Baseball Challenge in Prince George.

“I’m extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity to continue my broadcast career as play-by-play voice of the Prince George Cougars,” said Neal. “This has been a long-time goal of mine to call games at the Western Hockey League level. I can’t wait to take on this new role and share my enthusiasm for the team and it’s every on ice move to dedicated Cougars fans this season.”
