Everett Silvertips Sign Manraj Hayer

Everett, WA -- Everett Silvertips Vice President / General Manager Doug Soetaert announced Thursday that 1993-born forward Manraj Hayer of Vancouver, British Columbia has been signed to a WHL Educational Contract. The left-handed shooter spent last season with the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL, where he recorded 15 points on 5 goals and 10 assists along with 16 penalty minutes in 38 games.

“We’re happy that Manny has decided to join the Silvertips,” Soetaert said. “He is a smooth skating, hardworking player who will bring good skill to our hockey club. He showed at our spring camp that he is now ready to play at the Western Hockey League level, and we look forward to him being a part of our organization.”

An All-Star with the Greater Vancouver Canadians in 2008-09, the 5’9, 160 pound Hayer finished tied for fourth in BCMML scoring with 54 points on 23 goals and 31 assists and led the Canadians to the 2008-09 championship game, scoring his team’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss.

The WHL Scholarship not only encourages its graduates to pursue a post-secondary education, it also affords graduates the opportunity to continue playing hockey at an elite level in the Canadian University or College systems. Each year over 300 WHL graduates receive a WHL Scholarship. For every season a player plays in the WHL, they receive a full year guaranteed Scholarship.
