Stampede Announce Training Camp Roster

Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Stampede announced their training camp roster for the 2010-11 season today. The Herd have invited 27 players to Sioux Falls for camp which begins at the end of August. The Stampede are required to trim their roster to 23 players at the end of the pre-season in late September. The regular season begins the first weekend in October.

The roster includes nine returning players from last year's squad. Forwards Sam Coatta, Brent Darnell, Anthony Day, Ryan Misiak, Matt Tabrum and Dominic Zombo will bring some offensive power back to the Herd. Day is the Herd's top returning scorer after posting 31 points (11g, 20a) in 54 games last season.

Defensively, Clark Cristofoli, Zack Kamrass and Marcus Perrier are returning to Sioux Falls. Kamrass is the Herd's top returning defenseman after posting 13 points (3g, 10a) and an impressive plus-15 rating in 52 games last season.

Newcomers on the roster include forward Christian Isackson, who was recently drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL draft. Isackson spent last season at St. Thomas Academy where he finished second on the team in scoring with 57 points (25g, 32a) in 26 games. Isackson is committed to the University of Minnesota

Twins Connor and Ryan Reilly are coming to camp after completing their high school campaign at the Academy of Holy Angels. Connor led the Stars in scoring with 63 points (22g, 41a) while Ryan was fourth with 56 points (21g, 35a) in 25 games. They were both selected by the Stampede in the 2008 Futures Draft and have already committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota. 2010 first round draft choice, Daniel Doremus will also be at camp. He was second in scoring with the Colorado Thunderbirds of the Tier I Elite League (Midget Major) in Colorado last year. He recorded 41 points (23g, 18a) in 38 games last year.

Defensively, second round draft choice Jordan Oesterle will attend camp. The 5-foot-11, 150-pound left-handed defenseman spent last season with Belle Tire where he posted 30 points (5g, 25a) in 47 games. Joe Rubbelke is a right-handed shot who led North St. Paul High School (MN) in scoring last year with 52 points (24g, 28a) in 23 games. Alex Wiese is also on the camp roster. Wiese registered 32 points (8g, 24a) in 48 games with Honeybaked Major Midget last season.

In goal, Juho Olkinuora from Finland and Stephon Williams of Alaska will battle for the starting job. Olkinuora posted a 2.15 GAA and a .923 save percentage with HIFK U-20 last season and was solid in tryout camp as was Williams who went 12-0-0 with a 1.08 GAA and a .933 save percentage last year with the Arctic Lions.

High school aged players will report to Sioux Falls prior to the start of the school year while the rest of the team will report the last weekend in August. The Stampede will play a handful of pre-season games prior to the start of the regular season. The regular season schedule is expected to be released later this week while pre-season games will be released at a later date.
