Carson Dubchak named Greyhounds Captain

Soo Greyhounds Head Coach Mike Stapleton announced this afternoon that overage forward CARSON DUBCHAK will captain the Hounds through their 40th Anniversary season.
The Kenora, ON product is currently in his 4th season with the team.

“I have had the privilege over three seasons to watch Carson grow into a mature, responsible leader both on and off the ice” stated Stapleton. “He is the type of player that is highly regarded by his coaches, teammates and staff for his work ethic and commitment to the Soo Greyhounds."

Dubchak, who recently returned to the team’s lineup following emergency appendectomy, has held one of the Assistant Captain roles through the opening sixteen games of the regular season. In 8 games played he has 2 goals and 4 assists to go along with a +4 rating.

"Coach Stapleton electing to name Carson Dubchak as the captain of our hockey club is a decision that not only speaks to everything that our organization wants our player to represent on and off the ice, but most importantly it speaks to the character of Carson and his natural leadership ability” began GM Kyle Dubas.

“We are very proud that Carson will serve as our captain this season, as he represents what being a Soo Greyhound truly means."

In addition, defenseman JOE ROGALSKI and MICHAEL SCHWINDT were named full-time Assistant Captains of the club.

“Mike and Joe have stepped into major roles with our hockey club and provided guidance through the early season transitions. Their experience has, and will continue to be a valuable asset to the team” commented Stapleton.

The pair of off-season acquisitions bring a veteran presence to the Hounds blueline that goes along with their 7 years of combined play in the OHL.

Dubchak, Rogalski and Schwindt will now lead the Hounds on to the road for six consecutive games beginning this Thursday, November 3rd at Peterborough. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and you can hear all the action on Rock 101.

Next action at the Essar Centre is on Monday, November 14th when the Hounds host the Subway Super Series between Team OHL and Team Russia.

While the next Hounds home game is on Friday, November 18th when they play host to the Brampton Battalion in their lone visit to Sault Ste. Marie. Game time is 7:35 p.m.
