Chicago Steel Forward Commits to UMass-Lowell

Press Release

The Chicago Steel announced that forward Michael Fallon has committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell following his USHL career.

"I always thought I would be attending school out east," Fallon said. "One of the main reasons I chose Lowell was because of the coaching staff. They were great during the recruiting process and I heard nothing but good things about them. After I saw the campus and the facilities at UMass Lowell, it made my decision very easy."

Fallon is playing in his first USHL season and has collected seven points (3g, 4a) in nine games for the Steel, ranking second on the team in scoring. He collected two assists in his debut with the Steel on October 1st and has two other multi-point games since. The 20-year-old from Glenview, Illinois got his first taste of USHL action last season playing three games for the Waterloo Black Hawks.

"We are excited that Michael has the opportunity to play college hockey," Chicago Steel head coach Scott McConnell said. "The coaching staff at Lowell and the facilities are first-class, and Michael will continue to develop as a hockey player under their tutelage. Michael has worked hard at every stop along his hockey career. As a '91 in our league it is nice to see his hard work pay off."

Two other current USHL players are committed to play hockey UMass-Lowell; Greg Amlong and Ryan McGrath of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.

The University of Massachusetts-Lowell is a member of Hockey East and has 11 USHL alumni on the roster this season; Derek Arnold (Waterloo Black Hawks), Tyler Brickler (Sioux City Musketeers), Joe Caveney (Sioux City Musketeers), Mike Conderman (Muskegon Lumberjacks), William Eiserman (Tri-City Storm), Dan Furlong (Sioux Falls Stampede), Josh Holmstrom (Sioux Falls Stampede), Zack Kamrass (Sioux Falls Stampede), Micki Mihailovich (Muskegon Lumberjacks), Chad Ruhwedel (Sioux Falls Stampede), and Jake Suter (Sioux City Musketeers).
