DUININCK DEALT TO STING FOR PICKS

Press Release

General Manager Warren Rychel made his first deal of the regular season today, shipping defenceman Craig Duininck to the Sarnia Sting for a trio of draft picks.

Duininck, 18, was part of our 2010 Memorial Cup winning club.

“I’d like to thank Craig for everything he’s done for the Spitfires organization,” said Rychel. “He’s a solid player and a stand-up citizen on and off the ice. Obviously, this is a part of the rebuilding process for us and we hope this trade will help Craig have the chance to win another Memorial Cup.”

The Spitfires received Sarnia’s 2nd round pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Draft, Guelph’s 5th round pick in 2012 as well as Sarnia’s 14th round pick in 2012.

The deal follows two others made by Sting GM Jacques Beaulieu today.

Sarnia acquired F Brett Thompson from Erie for a 2nd and 3rd round draft pick. They later traded overage defenceman Daniel Broussard to Ottawa for a 3rd round pick, before acquiring Duininck.
