Duluth's Dzurik named Pizza Hut player of the week

Press Release

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Duluth Clydesdales goaltender Jason Dzurik has been named Pizza Hut player of the week for the period running Nov. 7-13.

In three starts this past week the 19-year-old native of Loretto, Minn., earned victories in each of them allowing only six goals in over 186 minutes of work while registering a solid 1.93 goals-against average and an impressive .938 save percentage in that span.

He began with a 35-save performance Wednesday in a shootout triumph at Thunder Bay that also saw him turn aside all three attempts he faced in extra shots.

Dzurik followed that up making 25 stops in a road win at Iron Range Friday and then rounded out his award-winning effort by kicking out 30 more shots in a home ice overtime victory over visiting Dryden Sunday.

For his on-ice efforts during the week that was, Dzurik will receive a gift card courtesy of Pizza Hut.

Honourable mention for the Pizza Hut player of the week award went to Tanner Milliron, (G) Wisconsin Wilderness; Trevor Zangs, (G) Sioux Lookout Flyers; Kyle Lapenskie, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Thomas Greene, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs; Henry Gutierrez, (F) Fort Frances Lakers and Colton Ishmael (G) Iron Range Iron Heads.

At the conclusion of the 2011-12 regular season the top performer in the SIJHL will be presented with the Pizza Hut player of the year award.
