KUHNHACKL DEALT TO NIAGARA

Press Release

General Manager Warren Rychel made his second deal in as many days today, sending star winger Tom Kuhnhackl to Niagara.

The Ice Dogs also get Windsor's 2nd round pick in the CHL Import Draft in 2013.

The Spits get the rights to forward Phillip De Giuseppe and goalie Jaroslav Pavelka, along with Niagara's 2nd round picks in 2012, 2014 and 2015, plus Niagara's 1st round pick in the 2013 CHL Import Draft.

De Giuseppe was the IceDogs 6th round pick in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection. Since being drafted by the IceDogs, De Giuseppe has spent two seasons with the OJHL’s Villanova Knights before attending the University of Michigan this year.

Pavelka is in his first OHL season, coming to the IceDogs from the Czech Republic after being selected in the 1st round of this year’s CHL Import Draft.

In seven games with the IceDogs, Pavelka owns a 1-3-0-1 record, with a 5.37 G.A.A. and a .846 save percentage.

"This trade is part of the rebuilding mode we're in right now," Rychel told windsorspitfires.com. "Acquiring these picks is very important for the future of our club. Tom is a good kid who has made a huge impact for us after coming in from Germany. He's been an ambassador on and off the ice for the Windsor Spitfires."

Kuhnhackl, 19, is a fourth round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
