Lincoln Defenseman Commits to Western Michigan University

The Lincoln Stars announced that rookie defenseman Mike McKee has committed to play collegiate hockey at Western Michigan University following his USHL career.

The 18-year-old has collected is tops among Lincoln defensemen with five points (1g, 4a) through nine games this season. He open his first USHL season with points in each of the first three games, including three assists in the 4-3 win over Chicago on October 14th. The 6-3, 230-pound native of Newmarket, Ontario has also posted a plus-five rating this season.

Four other current USHL players are also committed to Western Michigan University – Chris Dienes (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Sheldon Dries (Green Bay Gamblers), Nolan LaPorte (Green Bay Gamblers), and Kyle Novak (Green Bay Gamblers).

Western Michigan University is a member of the CCHA and there are currently 20 USHL alumni on the roster for the Broncos this season, the most USHL alumni of any school in the conference; Chase Balisy (Team USA), Brett Beebe (Waterloo/Chicago), Shane Berschbach (Indiana Ice), Dennis Brown (Omaha/Lincoln), Luke Wikowski (Fargo Force), Nick Pisellini (Chicago Steel), Ben Miller (Waterloo Black Hawks), J.J. Crew (Lincoln Stars), Matt Tennyson (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Ian Slater (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Kyle O’Kane (Lincoln Stars), Greg Squires (Indiana Ice), Dane Walters (Sioux Falls Stampede), Alex Carpenter (Tri-City/Chicago), Robert Francis (Green Bay Gamblers), Garrett Haar (Fargo Force), Will Kessel (Green Bay Gamblers), Justin Kovacs (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Jordan Oesterle (Sioux Falls Stampede), and Matt Stewart (Green Bay Gamblers).
