Pizza Hut player of the week: Week No. 8

Press Release

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Quinn Rempel of the Thunder Bay North Stars has been named Pizza Hut player of the week for the period ending Nov. 6.

In three games this past week the 19-year-old native of Salmon Arm, B.C. registered points in each of them, accumulating eight in total, helping the North Stars record a trio of victories.

He began with a pair of helpers in a shootout triumph over Dryden Wednesday, followed that up with a career-high four-goal, one assist performance over Iron Range on Friday and wrapped up his week by setting up another in a shutout of the Ironheads Saturday.

Rempel’s offensive outburst allowed him to move into a share of the team lead in scoring with 19 points, including 11 goals, as well as slide into a tie for eighth in league production.

The forward’s efforts also extended a consecutive game point streak to four. He also sits tied for third in the SIJHL in game-winning goals with two. The North Stars are 8-2-2 in contests in which he records at least one point.

For his on-ice efforts during the week that was, Rempel will receive a gift card courtesy of Pizza Hut.

Honourable mention for the Pizza Hut player of the week award went to Anthony Calabrese, (D) Wisconsin Wilderness; Jordan Larson, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Anthony Wolfe, (F) Sioux Lookout Flyers; Kim Wildhaber, (G) Dryden Ice Dogs; Jason Dzurik, (G) Duluth Clydesdales and Garrett Allen (F) Iron Range Iron Heads.

At the conclusion of the 2011-12 regular season the top player in the SIJHL will be presented with the Pizza Hut player of the year award.
