USHL Honors - Week Six

Press Release

The United States Hockey League today announced the weekly award winners for the sixth week of the 2011-12 USHL regular season.

Award winners include forward Kevin Roy of the Lincoln Stars, named CCM Offensive Player of the Week; defenseman Ryan Obuchowski of the Indiana Ice, selected as CCM Defensive Player of the Week; and Charlie Lindgren of the Sioux Falls Stampede who earned honors as the Reebok USHL Goaltender of the Week.

Roy scored six points (3g, 3a) and registered a plus-three rating as the Stars earned a weekend split vs. Fargo. On Friday, the 18-year-old scored a third-period goal in the 4-2 loss. He then exploded for a five-point night (2g, 3a) in the 8-3 victory on Saturday. His shorthanded goal proved to be the game-winner and extended his goal streak to four games. Roy is currently riding a six-game point streak, recording all of his 15 points (8g, 7a) this season during that span. His point total is third overall in the USHL and the Lac Beauport, Quebec native is tied for the League lead with eight goals. It is the second time this season he has earned the weekly award.

Obuchowski recorded three points (1g, 2a) and a plus-four rating as the Ice earned three of a possible four points in the standings over the weekend. He netted the first goal of the game – and his first of the season – in the 5-1 win over Cedar Rapids on Friday. The second-year USHL defenseman also dished out an assist during Indiana’s third home win of the season. Obuchowski then registered an assist on Indiana’s goal with just 52 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime on Saturday vs. Youngstown. The 19-year-old from Canton, Michigan has posted seven points (1g, 6a) and a plus-five rating in 10 games this season which is tied for sixth among USHL defensemen in scoring.

Lindgren posted a 1.63 goals-against-average and a .956 save percentage over two appearances for the Stampede. He came on in relief during the third period on Friday and stopped all five shots he faced in just over 13 minutes of action in the 5-0 loss to Sioux City. Making just his second USHL start, the 17-year-old made 38 saves in the 3-2 win vs. Tri-City on Saturday. It was the first career USHL victory for the Lakeville, Minnesota native.
