Press Release

CALGARY, AB. – The Western Hockey League announced today that Laurent Brossoit, of the Edmonton Oil Kings, has been named the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for January.

The 19 year-old goaltender from Surrey, BC, posted a 7-2-0-0 record with two shut-outs through January and is currently on a six game win streak (Jan. 20 – present).  Brossoit’s 1.35 goals-against average led all WHL goaltenders (minimum 320 minutes played) while posting 0.957 save percentage, allowing just 12 goals on 278 shots-against in 535 minutes played.  His efforts also earned him a Three Star selection six times, with three being a 1st Stars.

Brossoit currently ranks 3rd among all WHL goaltenders with a 2.07 goals-against average and 4th with a 0.925 save-percentage, in 37 games-played thus far this season.  His consistent play helped the Oil Kings to a sizzling 11-3-0-0 record in January and currently sit first in the WHL Eastern Conference with a 38-11-2-3 record for 81 points.

His accomplishments make Laurent Brossoit a deserving choice as the VAUGHN WHL Goaltender of the Month for January.
