Bombers Trade Hall, Acquire Kauk

Press Release

The Flin Flon Bombers are gearing towards the 2013-14 season with some roster and staff changes already taking shape.

The staff will have a new look with Assistant Coach Michael George and Athletic Therapist Seadon Pereira moving on.

Along with finding replacements for them, Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan has also made some roster moves for the upcoming season.

In the first of two deals so far, Flin Flon shipped 1993 born defenseman Dallen Hall (Red Deer, AB) to the Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for 1994 born forward Parker Evans-Campbell (High River, AB) from the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, in a three team deal.

In Evans-Campbell the team gets a 6’0 185 pound forward who put up 25 points (8g, 17a) in 55 games his first in junior hockey.

“Parker has good size and plays the game honestly,” commented Reagan.  “He competes every game and is excited to come to Flin Flon.”  Reagan did say that Evans-Campbell heard great things about Flin Flon from former Bomber Hayden Dawes.

Hall has played two seasons with the Bombers compiling 42 points (5g, 37a) in 109 games.  The deal was for personal reasons.

“It was a move we didn’t want to make,” said Reagan.  “Dallen is a great player and a great person, but family comes first.  This was a trade that we made because we respect Dallen and he will be missed.”

In another deal, one to fill the void of losing Hall, the Bombers acquired 1993 born Tyler Kauk (Winnipeg, MB) from the Estevan Bruins for 1996 born Conner Vermeulen (Saskatoon, SK).

Kauk (5’10, 216 pounds) has played two season in Estevan putting up 45 points (7g, 38a) in 109 games to go along with 47 penalty minutes.  He was also one of seven SJHL players who attended Main Camp for Canada West for the World Junior A Challenge this past season.

“Tyler is a top 5 defenseman in the league,” commented Reagan.  “He’s a thick kid with a heavy shot.  I feel he’s going to put up big numbers this season.  He also plays very good one on one, tough to play against.”

“Vermeulen was acquired from the Melfort Mustangs in the Logan Sceviour deal and will be a very good player in the league, but in our eyes, trading Sceviour and getting Kauk with the assets is a deal we couldn’t pass up,” said Reagan.

“The team is looking good, especially in the back end where we have four players returning, and with the addition of Tyler, it strengthens our d-core and we really like our d-core going into the season,” commented Reagan.  “The veteran presence, along with our recruits we have signed, is really creating some healthy battles heading into camp.”
