Press Release
The Okotoks Oilers regretfully announce the departure of Assistant Coaches Derek Stuart and Bobby Fox.
Derek Stuart, who was named Head Coach and Assistant GM of the Calgary
Mustangs on May 29th, coached with the Oilers for 3 seasons. During his
3 seasons the Oilers had a record of 111-49-13, and with the primary
responsibility of overseeing the forwards had great success finishing in
the Top 5 for Goals For in all 3 seasons. Stuart played an integral
role over the past 3 seasons in developing Oiler players and assisting
Coach Poole in a lot of aspects on & off the ice that were crucial
to the Oilers success.
Bobby Fox joined the Oilers in 2011 where the Oilers compiled a record
of 72-39-9. Fox will be joining the Mount Royal University staff as an
Assistant Coach for the 2013-2014 season. Fox was a valuable member of
the Oilers coaching staff in developing players but also worked
tirelessly behind the scenes to make the Oilers program better.
Coach James Poole states “Derek & Bobby’s hard work, passion,
positive teaching methods and commitment will be missed by coaches,
players, and everyone in the organization. The Oilers organization
would like to thank Derek for his outstanding contributions and wish him
the best of luck, except against the Oilers, in his opportunity with
the Mustangs. The Oilers would also like to thank Bobby for his
tremendous commitment over the past two seasons and wish him the best of
luck in his new opportunity with Mount Royal University.”
The Oilers will be announcing the finalization of the 2013-2014 hockey
staff later this week. For more information, please contact the Oilers
