Oilers Add Deis to Coaching Staff

The Okotoks Oilers are pleased to announce that Tyler Deis will be joining the organization as an Assistant Coach for the 2013 / 2014 season.

Tyler Deis has spent the past 8 seasons coaching for the Edge School in Calgary, Alberta, including the last two seasons as Head Coach of the Edge Prep Team.  Deis led last years Edge Prep team to the MPHL and CSSHL titles.  Deis’ playing background includes 5 years professional hockey in the East Coast Hockey League, and 4 years for the Minnesota State Mavericks (NCAA Division 1).  Deis currently sits as the 5th all-time leading scorer in the Mavericks Division 1 history of their program.

Head Coach James Poole states “I am very excited to announce the addition of Tyler to our hockey staff.  Tyler will help provide a great hockey environment for our players to develop on & off the ice and brings a great wealth of hockey knowledge, passion & commitment that will greatly benefit our players, our club & our organization.”

In addition to Deis, Athletic Therapist / Equipment Manager Mike Elchuk and Goaltending Coach Derek Purfield will each be returning for their third season with the Oilers organization.
