Lancers Defenseman Commits to Princeton University

The Omaha Lancers announced that defenseman Aaron Ave has committed to play collegiate hockey at Princeton University and will enroll at the school in the fall of 2011.

Ave, 19, is in his second USHL season after recording nine points (9a) and a plus-13 rating in 44 games for the Lancers during the 2009-10 season. The native of Chandler, Arizona is second on the team this season with 15 shots on goal through four games which also ranks third overall among USHL defensemen.

"Aaron has done a lot of work in the last 15 months to put himself in a position to make a commitment to Princeton," said Bliss Littler, Head Coach/GM of the Lancers. "We're very proud of him and know that he'll be a big part of any success we have this season."

Ave joins Lancers teammate Jonathan Liau who is also committed to play for the Princeton Tigers following his USHL career. Two other USHL players have committed to attend the Ivy League school; forwards Tucker Brockett (Chicago Steel) and Mike Ambrosia (Youngstown Phantoms).

Eleven players on the Princeton roster for the 2010-11 season are USHL alumni; Andrew Ammon (Lincoln Stars), Matt Arhontas (Waterloo Black Hawks), Jack Berger (Des Moines Buccaneers), Matt Farris (Sioux Falls Stampede), Matt Godlewski (Chicago Steel), Mike Kramer (Lincoln Stars), Kevin Lohry (Sioux City Musketeers), Will MacDonald (Indiana Ice), Eric Meland (Lincoln Stars), Alec Rush (Omaha Lancers), and Michael Sdao (Lincoln Stars).
