NAHL Top Prospects Tournament Details Announced

FRISCO, TEXAS - The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced that its Top Prospects Tournament, sponsored by SBK Hockey, will be held from Dec. 5-7, 2010 at the Iorio Ice Arena in Walpole, Mass.

At the event, four teams comprised of the NAHL's top committed and un-committed college players, including those recognized on the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's "Players to Watch" list for 2011 draft-eligibles - Wenatchee Wild forwards Eliot Grauer and Evan Schmidbauer; Fairbanks Ice Dogs forwards Jared Linnell, a University of Alaska-Fairbanks (CCHA) recruit, and Tayler Munson; Alexandria Blizzard defenseman Paul Ladue; Amarillo Bulls defenseman Kyle Sucher, a Bowling Green State University (CCHA) recruit; and Dawson Creek Rage forward Jason Wark - will play a three-game round robin.

The rosters for the teams, which will be named Team Miller (after Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller, who played in the NAHL as a member of the Soo Indians); Team Rafalski (after Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brian Rafalski, formerly of the NAHL's Melvindale Blades); Team Legwand (after Nashville Predators forward David Legwand, who skated with the NAHL's Compuware Ambassadors); and Team Weight (after New York Islanders forward Doug Weight, who developed in the NAHL as a member of the Bloomfield Jets) to recognize four of the NAHL's more prominent alumni, will be announced the first week of November.

Sunday, December 5 Team Miller vs. Team Weight, 4:30 PM Team Rafalski vs. Team Legwand, 7:30 PM

Monday, December 6 Team Legwand vs. Team Miller, 3:00 PM Team Weight vs. Team Rafalski, 6:00 PM

Tuesday, December 7 Team Weight vs. Team Legwand, 9:30 AM Team Miller vs. Team Rafalski, 12:30 PM (all times local)

The Top Prospects Tournament will also feature the third North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) event of the season, in which all Midget Major and Midget Minor teams will compete from Dec. 3-6 at both the Iorio Ice Arena and Foxboro Sports Center in Foxboro, Mass.

The NAHL Divisional Championship Challenge will be held from Feb. 20-22, 2011 at the Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Mich. At that event, four teams comprised of the NAHL's top uncommitted college players will play a three-game round robin.
