Singleton commits to Merrimack

The British Columbia Hockey League's Westside Warriors are pleased to announce that 20-year old forward Kyle Singleton, has accepted a scholarship to attend Merrimack College and suit up for the NCAA Division I Warriors for the 2011/12 season.

Singleton is a six-foot-two winger from Beaverton, Oregon who is now playing in his third season in the BCHL. He set a career high with 25 goals and 44 points as a second year player and has nine points through 14 games in the current campaign.

“This is an exciting day for Kyle and his family as he has worked hard to secure a future in the game and an NCAA scholarship," says Warriors head coach Darren Yopyk. "Merrimack has recruited a very good young man who will be a tremendous asset to their institution on the ice, in the classroom, and in their community."

"Coach Dennehy and his staff have done an excellent job at Merrimack and Kyle will help them to continue their rise to the upper echelon of the Hockey East Conference.”

“As an organization, we continue to demonstrate that we are meeting our mandate of developing players and moving them forward in their hockey and academic careers. We are proud that the majority of players that play for us secure scholarships in either the NCAA or in Canada, in the CIS or ACAC.”

The Westside Warriors congratulate Kyle and his family for achieving his goal of a securing an NCAA scholarship.
