Victoria's Ginn named BCHL POW

Press Release

Victoria Grizzlies goaltender Matt Ginn has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending October 17th, the league announced Monday.

Ginn's strong play helped lead the Grizzlies to a 3-0 record for the week and earned the team sole possession of fourth place in the Coastal Conference. On Tuesday, the 19-year old made 35 saves and was named the game's first star in a 3-1 victory over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. He then turned aside 27 shots in a 5-2 win over Nanaimo before closing the door entirely with 31 saves in a 5-0 triumph over the Salmon Arm SilverBacks.

Ginn's totals for the week included a 1.33 goals-against average and .959 save percentage. His record now for the season now sits at eight wins and four losses while his 2.44 GAA and .928 SV% are both amongst the best in the league.

Honourable mentions for this week's award include Nanaimo Clippers forward Andrew Gladiuk, Victoria Grizzlies forward Joel Lowry and Penticton Vees defenceman Joey Laleggia.
