BRUINS NAME SJHL AWARD NOMINEES

Press Release

The Estevan Bruins hockey club and the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League have announced the three players that will represent the team in year-end awards at the end of the season. The announcement of what players have been nominated by the team was made today as the SJHL’s President Tour presented by Source Embroidery-Yorkton made a stop in Estevan The President’s Tour is a chance to promote the upcoming SJHL playoffs and to show off the Credit Union Cup and the SJHL Sask-Tel Showcase of Awards.

ESTEVAN BRUINS YEAR END AWARD NOMINEES

Most Outstanding Player – Troy Hunter

The Bruins knew when they traded for Hunter at the start of the season that they were dealing for a player who is the complete package. The 20 year old from Virden, MB has not disappointed this year as he has registered a 50 point season while playing a physical style that has earned him respect from fellow coaches and players around the league.

Most Outstanding Defenceman – Lucas Stubel

The Bruins have a talented group of defencemen led by the 20 year old from Estevan. While Stubel may not get on the scoresheet every night, his rugged play makes it tough for opposition forwards to do what they want to on a night to night basis.

Top Rookie – Cole Olson

The 1992 born forward from Deloraine, MB has had a significant impact for the Bruins in his rookie season. Olson has shown what he can do and the Bruins will be expecting big things from him in the future as he continues to develop into what the team believes will be one of the elite players in the league in a very short time.

These three players will join the nominees from the 11 other SJHL teams for year-end awards. Those awards will be announced shortly after the end of the regular-season.
