Marcel-Robert Trophy finalists revealed

The five finalists for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Scholastic Player of the Year award were announced today.

The finalists are:

Pascal Amyot - Halifax Mooseheads
Michaël Bournival - Shawinigan Cataractes
Guillaume Goulet - Victoriaville Tigres
Jean-Philippe Mathieu - Drummondville Voltigeurs
Nicolas Therrien - Chicoutimi Saguenéens

Each candidate must now go through an arduous interview process with the Marcel-Robert committee which will measure their analytical skills and their understanding of current events. Their performance during the interview will also play a key role.

This year’s Marcel-Robert committee members are: Éric L’Italien, a former QMJHL player and recipient of the Marcel-Robert Trophy as well as this year’s committee President; Emmanuelle Ouimet, General Manager, Strategic Sponsorship, Event Marketing and Contents for TELUS; Marie-Linda Lord, Teacher at Moncton University and its Chair of Acadian Studies; Sébastien Fyfe, Director of Alliance Sport-Études; Mathias Brunet, Columnist for La Presse.

The Scholastic Player of the Year will be honoured at the next Golden Puck Awards Gala which will be held on Wednesday, April 6, in Montreal. Along with the Marcel-Robert Trophy, the winner will receive a $1,300 bursary from the QMJHL’s major partner, TELUS.
