Wolves Clinch 1st league title in Team History

Press Release

The La Ronge Ice Wolves secured their first regular season SJHL Title in team history last night with an 8-1 blow-out of the Flin Flon Bombers.

The Wolves who have 80 points are 12 up on the Melfort Mustangs. Melfort has a game in hand, but with the tie breaker format, the 1st comparison to break the tie is head-2-head wins, with the Ice Wolves leading the season series 3-2 the best the 'Stangs can hope for is a season split 3 wins each. The second tie breaker comparison is total season wins and the Mustangs cannot catch the Wolves in the Wins column.

Yorkton has 71 points, but only 8 more possible points are left on the table for the Terriers, which will put them at 79 (if the run the table) and that cannot catch the Wolves.

The Wolves now have their playoff spot secured and home ice advantage throughout the SJHL playoffs and will face the winner of the 4-5 matchup.

According to the League website, the Semi-Finals will start on March 4th. Please check back with the site for more playoff information as we get closer and closer to playoffs.
