WHEAT KINGS RECALL WALTZ

Press Release

Brandon, MB. -- The Brandon Wheat Kings will have a new face in the lineup Wednesday night when they kick off a 2-game Western Hockey League series in Saskatoon against the first place Blades.

The Wheat Kings, who will be putting a 5-game winning streak on the line tonight, have announced that 15-year old defenceman Colton Waltz has been recalled from the Alberta AAA Midget Hockey League.

A native of Lloydminster, the 6' 170 lb Waltz was Brandon's first selection (3rd round, 65th overall) in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.

Waltz is a member of the Lloydmister Baker Hughes Bobcats. The Cats finished the regular season with a record of 12-17-5, good for 29 points and sixth place in the Dodge Division.

The Wheat Kings meanwhile occupy seventh place in the WHL's Eastern Conference with a record of 25-28-1-7, good for 58 points.

Brandon is currently one point back of the sixth place Edmonton Oil Kings and three ahead of the eighth place Prince Albert Raiders. The Lethbridge Hurricanes meanwhile have pulled to within six points of Brandon as teams battle one another for the final three playoff spots in the East Division.

Brandon will conclude this week's 2-game series in Saskatoon on Friday night, before returning home to play the Regina Pats on Saturday.

Tickets to Saturday's game are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca
