Laplante Breaks into AJHL Record Book

Bonnyville Pontiacs goaltender Julien Laplante is nearing several League Records after another great week in the Bonnyville net. Laplante extended a franchise record by registering a third consecutive shutout on Saturday night, his ninth of the 2010-2011 AJHL regular season.

Laplante has tied the League Record for Most Consecutive Shutouts, a record shared by Jimmy Bernier, Fort McMurray Oil Barons (2005-2006) and Vincenzo Marozzi, Sherwood Park Crusaders (2008-2009). The League Record for Most Shutouts is 10, held by Jimmy Bernier of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons (2005-2006), Laplante now holds second spot with his 9 shutouts. Laplante is also amongst the top four goaltenders in the category of Most Consecutive Shutout Minutes with 180 minutes.
Earlier this month, Laplante committed to attend Union College beginning the Fall of 2011. Laplante was recently named a finalist for both the 2010-2011 AJHL League MVP Award and the Top Goaltender Award.
