Whitby, ON to Host Team East Evaluation Camp

Press Release

The Whitby Fury and the Town of Whitby have officially been named hosts of the first-ever Canada East evaluation camp.

The event will take place at Iroquois Park Oct. 3-5 in preparation for the fifth annual World Junior A Challenge, which will be held from Nov. 8-14 in the Penticton, B.C.

The Canada East roster will be made up of players from the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, the Ontario Junior Hockey League and the Central Junior A Hockey League, along with the Quebec and Maritimes leagues.
In past years, each league has had a camp and then the coaches have selected the players after watching various league games. However, this year, the best from these league camps will be brought to Whitby for morning practices and nightly games at Iroquois Park.

Troy Ryan, of Halifax, is the Canada East general manager, while former National Hockey League defenceman Todd Gill will serve as head coach. Gill currently runs the Brockville Braves.

The assistant coaches alongside Gill will be Patrice Bosch of the Quebec Junior A League's Kahnawake Condors and Curtis Hodgins of the Fury.

The final camp schedule and roster of the 40 players invited, along with ticket information, will be released in late August.

For information, contact Fury general manager Frank Robinson at 905-426-5824.
