Russian Import Pick Nikita Serebryakov Commits to Spirit

The Saginaw Spirit announce today that the team has signed Russian born goaltender Nikita Serebryakov to a standard Ontario Hockey League contract. The 1995 year native of Moscow was selected 18th overall in the 2012 CHL Import Draft, after spending this past season with the Moscow Dynamo Jr. program. Serebryakov was also selected in the recent KHL Draft in the second round by Moscow Dynamo.

Serebryakov was also a standout at the 2012 World Under 17 Challenge leading Russia to the Gold Medal at the tournament staged in Windsor Ontario. In five games at the event, he posted five wins, with a goals against average of 2.72 and a save percentage of .930.

Serebryakov is expected to be in attendance when the Spirit open their 2012/13 season training camp in late August.
