67's Add Shean Donovan To Staff

Press Release

June 20, 2013 (Ottawa ON.): The Ottawa 67’s today announced that former NHL forward Shean Donovan has joined the organization as Assistant Coach.  Donovan, a 67’s alumnus who played 951 games in a 15-season NHL career, will work closely with 67’s players and share his hockey knowledge and experiences.

“Shean Donovan was a character player with a tremendous work-ethic and fierce determination and it’s a privilege to welcome him to our team,” said 67’s Head Coach and General Manager Chris Byrne.   “Shean’s experience in the NHL and playing for Canada at the World Championships and the World Juniors brings a new dimension to our coaching staff and I’m looking forward to seeing him on the ice with our players.”

“I’m happy and excited to be part of the 67's organization again,” said Shean Donovan.   “It’s  the most storied franchise in junior hockey.  My 3 and ½ seasons here as a player laid the foundation for my NHL career and helped shaped who I am today.  I’m greatly looking forward to working with all the exciting young talent that Chris Byrne and his staff have assembled.”

Always a great skater, Shean Donovan scored 29 goals for the 67’s in the 1992-93 season, after which he was drafted 27th overall by the San Jose Sharks.  His highest scoring NHL season was 2003-04 where he notched 18 goals and 42 points for the Calgary Flames, en-route to the Stanley Cup Finals and a series that was ultimately won by Tampa Bay.  However, Shean’s value to all the teams he played for extended far beyond the score-sheet.  He was a consummate two-way player known for his tenacity, relentless spirit and for being a great teammate.
