FORT FRANCES – The Fort Frances Lakers of the
Superior International Junior Hockey League have announced their first
signing of the 2013-14 season.
The SIJHL club have signed forward Lucas DeBenedet, who hails from
just across the bridge from the Fort in International Falls, Minn.
The skilled 18-year-old centre put up some impressive numbers this
past season in his senior year playing high school hockey for the
International Falls Broncos amassing 56 points in just 25 games,
including 25 goals.
“Lucas will bring speed and skill to our line-up,” offered Lakers head coach and general manager Wayne Strachan.
“We are very excited to have Lucas join our team, as he had many
choices, and we feel he will be a big part of our organization this
upcoming season,” added Strachan.
The Lakers get things going on the ice as the club hosts a Summer Camp July 19-21.
