"The Prince George Cougars are thrilled to be a part of this event." said Prince George Cougars Vice President Brandi Brodsky. "We value the relationship we’ve built with the Spirit of the North over the years and feel it’s important for us to do all we can to support them. The proceeds from this tournament go to an extremely worthy cause.  At the same time it allows our fans to interact with their favorite players from previous seasons while giving the alumni a chance to spend some quality time together and reflect on their fond memories of their time in Prince George."

“Over the last decade, Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation has partnered with the Prince George Cougars to engage community support in healthcare and this year’s 2nd annual golf tournament is another incredible opportunity,” commented Darren Masse, President of the Spirit of the North Board. “Last year’s success of raising over $25,000 was a fantastic achievement from their inaugural event.  This year, proceeds from the tournament are going towards a SPECT CT camera. The camera captures two kinds of real-time images and merges them into one field.  It helps doctors see with pinpoint clarity and detail so they can detect, diagnose and treat a wide range of illness and disease early. The tournaments proceeds will help local patients receive the best of care close to home.”

So far Remax Centre City Realty has been confirmed as a gold sponsor, while Agfa, Geotech Drilling and Telus have signed on as silver sponsors. Other confirmed sponsors include: Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline, Atco Structures and Logistics, Scotiabank, Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, Splash Media Group Inc., Earls, The Prince George Citizen, Cariboo Brewing, The Coast Inn of the North, Regional Security Services, Northland Hyundai, Signtek, Van Horlick’s, and Up the Creek Garmant Co. Ltd. 94X and the Wolf at 97FM are the media sponsors.

“The businesses of Prince George continue to amaze me.  We have raised over $30K in contributions so far to this year's event with much more to come,” said tournament chairperson Gary Samis. “This level of involvement by our local community will ensure that we will be able to generate much needed funds for our local hospital thru the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. We have over 30 businesses who have stepped up so far and we are well on our way to meeting our goals.”

Several prominent Prince George Cougars alumni players have confirmed their attendance including: Dan Hamhuis (1998-2002), Brett Connolly (2008-2011), Blair Betts (1996-200), Trent Hunter (1997-2000) Jonathan Filewich (1999-2004), Ronald Petrovicky (1994-1997), Nick Drazenovic (2002-2007), Ty Wishart (2004-2008), Quinn Hancock (1995-1998), Sena Acolatse (2010-2012), Brad Mehalko (1995-1997) and Eric Hunter (2002-2007).

"Prince George is a great city full of great people,” said Prince George Cougars alumni forward Nick Drazenovic. “Last year was a major success and I look forward to this being a great annual tournament. I’m excited to see some familiar faces and many more this year, it's a great cause.  I love coming home to give back."

"Playing in PG will always be a fond memory for me,” adds former Cougars captain Brad Mehalko. “The support of the city during our playoff push was absolutely unforgettable!  I am honoured and excited to be able to come back and be associated with the Cougars Organization in any way, let alone an event for charity such as this."
