BLAZERS SIGN TOP 2013 PICK QUINN BENJAFIELD

Kamloops, BC – Kamloops Blazers General Manager Craig Bonner announced today the hockey club has signed Quinn Benjafield, their 1st round pick, 19th overall in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.

Benjafield is from North Vancouver, BC and played Bantam AAA with the North Shore Winter Club. The dynamic forward suited up for 70 games this season and scored 63 goals, and added 69 assists for 132 points. Benjafield is listed at 6’1” and 165lbs and is likely to play for the Northwest Giants of the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League next season.

“Quinn is a big, skilled forward that we are excited to have as a part of our future”, commented General Manager Craig Bonner. “He had an outstanding season and played a leadership role on one of the best Bantam teams in Western Canada. We look forward to monitoring his development and watching him at our fall training camp.” 

Benjafield team won the Bantam AAA St. Albert and Chilliwack tournaments. His team also won the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association Bantam division and the B.C. Bantam AAA title. Benjafield was tied for the lead in scoring with 12 points in four games at the Canadian Western Bantam Championships. His team eventually made it to the final of the Western Canadian Bantam Championships before falling to the South Side Athletic Club based out of Edmonton.
