OHL 2013-14 Regular Season Schedule

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced the regular season schedule of games for 2013-14, see it here.

The 680-game OHL regular season opens on Thursday September 19, 2013, with four games including the Bobby Orr Trophy winners the Barrie Colts hosting the Saginaw Spirit at 7:30 pm, the Windsor Spitfires host the Oshawa Generals at 7:05 pm, along with a pair of Eastern Conference divisional matchups featuring the Niagara IceDogs hosting the Mississauga Steelheads at 7:00 pm, and the Peterborough Petes hosting the Kingston Frontenacs at 7:05 pm.

The season continues on Friday September 20, 2013, with eight games featuring season openers for 12 teams including the Robertson Cup Champion London Knights when they host the Plymouth Whalers at 7:30 pm in a rematch of the Rogers Western Conference Championship Series.

Other highlights of the season include Friday October 11, 2013, when the North Bay Battalion make their home debut at Memorial Gardens against the Peterborough Petes at 7:00 pm.  On Friday November 8, 2013, at 7:30 pm the Knights host the Colts in a rematch of the 2013 Rogers OHL Championship Series, with their second and final head-to-head contest of the season set for Saturday February 1, 2014, at 7:30 pm in Barrie.  On Tuesday November 19, 2013, there are three morning games on the schedule including the Ottawa 67’s hosting the Belleville Bulls at 10:30 am, along with the Erie Otters hosting the Kitchener Rangers at 11:00 am, and the Steelheads hosting the Guelph Storm at 11:00 am.  The Saginaw Spirit also host a morning game against the Sarnia Sting on Tuesday March 4 at 10:45 am.  On Sunday December 29, 2013, the Spirit face the Spitfires at 1:30 pm followed by the Whalers against the Knights at 5:00 pm in an outdoor doubleheader as part of the 2013 Hockeytown Winter Festival at Comerica Park in Detroit.

The 2013-14 regular season wraps up on Sunday March 16, 2014, with five games scheduled before the league’s top 16 teams will compete for the Robertson Cup in the 2014 OHL Playoffs.

CHL Special Events this season include the 2013 SUBWAY Super Series in OHL markets on Thursday November 21, 2013, hosted by the Generals, followed by Monday November 25, 2013, hosted by the Sudbury Wolves.  The 2014 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game is scheduled for Wednesday January 15, 2014, in Calgary, Alberta.  The 2014 MasterCard Memorial Cup will be hosted by the Knights May 16-25, 2014, and will feature the champions from all three leagues competing in the 96th edition of our prestigious national championship.

The Ontario Hockey League continues the tradition of being primarily a weekend league in order to accommodate the student athlete with over 86% (587) games scheduled between Thursday and Sunday. Friday continues to be the busiest night during the season with 195 games scheduled, followed by 167 on Saturdays, and 119 on Sundays.
