Musketeers Announce Tryout Camp Schedule And Press Conference

Sioux City, IA. – The Musketeers released the schedule for their annual tryout camp today via their website.  The camp runs from Wednesday, June 19th through Sunday, June 23rd.

The camp will include practice sessions and games for futures players who are being evaluated primarily for the 2014-15 season as well as sessions designed for players who are vying for a spot on the 2013-2014 Musketeer roster.  Futures camp practices and games will precede main camp practices and games for each session.

Wednesday, June 19th is registration day.  The team will in-process all participants and hold meetings for players who are participating in the camp, along with their parents.  Wednesday’s activities are not open to the public.

The public is invited to attend all practices and games beginning on Thursday morning, June 20th.  Thursday’s activities include practice sessions that will begin at 7:00am and conclude at 11:30am.  Games will start at 11:45am and run through 9:15pm.  There will be a press conference at 2:00pm on Thursday, June 20th in the lobby at the IBP Ice Center where Head Coach and General Manager Jay Varady will be introduced to the public for the first time.

Friday’s activities include games that begin at 9:00am and run through 6:30pm.  There will be two goalie sessions after Friday’s games are complete, the first beginning at 6:45pm and the second at 7:45pm.  All activities should be completed by 8:30pm

The camp continues on Saturday with games beginning at 8:00am, with the last game of the day finishing at approximately 7:30pm.  Rosters for the Sunday All Star games will be posted after the Futures and Main camp sessions respectively.  Futures and Main camp teams will be pared down to two teams for each group that will complete in the All Star Games on Sunday.

Saturday also marks the beginning of the 17th annual WHO Tractor Ride, which will be based in the parking lot in front of the IBP Ice Center.  Parking for the Musketeers Tryout Camp will move to the west side of Stadium Drive beginning in the afternoon on Saturday.  The WHO Tractor Ride will continue through Wednesday, June 26th.  Musketeers fans attending Tryout and Futures Camp activities are asked to please park in the parking lot to the west of Line drive beginning Saturday morning, and all day on Sunday.  The WHO Tractor Ride is an annual event put on by WHO News Radio in Des Moines.  Fans attending the Musketeers Tryout camp are encouraged to visit vendors and displays between games and during intermissions.

The camp will conclude on Sunday, June 23rd with two All Star games.  The Futures All Star Game will begin at 11:30am, and will consist of three, 17 minute periods.  The Main Camp All Star Game will begin at 2:30pm, and will consist of three 20 minute periods.

USHL teams are required to submit their 30 player protected lists and 18 player affiliate lists by 11:59pm on July 9th  Affiliate player lists consist of 10 players with a ‘97 birth year, 6 players with a ‘96 birth year, and 2 players with a ’95 birth year. On September 1st teams are required to trim their 30 player protected list to 25 players.  Protected lists must then be trimmed to 23 players after the USHL Fall Classic events in September.

The 2013 USHL Fall Classic will take place in two locations this year.  Indiana will host the USHL Fall Classic East, a two day tournament involving all 8 USHL Eastern Division Teams, in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Sioux City will host the USHL Fall Classic West, a two day tournament involving all 8 USHL Western Division Teams, on September 11th and 12th, 2013 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA.
