Lind to Notre Dame

The Chicago Steel announced that defenseman Kevin Lind has committed to play hockey at the University of Notre Dame following his USHL career.

Lind posted five points (2g, 3a) and 45 penalty minutes in 50 games during his first season with the Steel in 2008-09. The 6-3, 200 pound native of Homer Glen, Illinois is set to join the Steel again this season. Lind recently competed for Team USA at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial in Piestany, Slovakia. He scored the overtime winner in the 7-6 victory vs. Slovakia to propel the U.S. team into the bronze medal game.

Three players who spent the 2008-09 season in the USHL will suit up for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this fall; Mike Johnson (Cedar Rapids), Kevin Nugent (Tri-City), and Nick Larson (Waterloo). They will join former USHL players Kevin Deeth (Green Bay), Dan Kissel (Chicago), Kyle Lawson (Tri-City), Billy Maday (Waterloo), Christiaan Minella (Sioux City), Calle Ridderwall (Tri-City), Ben Ryan (Des Moines), and Ryan Thang (Omaha) on the Fighting Irish roster.

Current USHL players Jeff Costello (Cedar Rapids), David Gerths (Lincoln), Garrett Peterson (Lincoln), and Joe Lavin (Omaha) have also committed to the University of Notre Dame following their USHL careers.
