Mitch Bruijsten commits to Alaska Anchorage

The Sioux City Musketeers announced that forward Mitch Bruijsten has been offered a scholarship to the University of Alaska Anchorage and will enroll at the school this fall.

Bruijsten spent two seasons in the USHL playing for the Musketeers. He ranked third on the club during the 2008-09 season with 41 points (16g, 25a) in 51 games played. He recorded a seven-game point streak (2g, 9a) from February 17th, 2009 to March 7th, 2009 which was highlighted by a five-point night (1g, 4a) in an 8-2 win vs. Des Moines on February 21st. The native of Nijmegen, Netherlands posted 30 points (14g, 16a) and plus-12 rating during his rookie season in the USHL.

"We hate to lose a guy of Mitch's caliber, but this is what the USHL is all about – moving kids on to college where they can play the game they love and get a great education at the same time," said Luke Strand, Sioux City Head Coach and General Manager. "We will miss him, but wish him all the best for a great career at UAA.
