Petes sign Puempel

The Peterborough Petes are proud to announce that the Ontario Hockey League team has agreed to terms with first round draft pick Matt Puempel. Puempel, the sixth overall draft pick in the 2009 OHL Priority selection recorded 88 goals and 144 points in 76 games with the Sun County Panthers of the Alliance hockey league.

“I am very happy and proud to become a Pete. The Ontario Hockey League is a great developmental league and it is an honour to be part of such a prestigious league and the Petes organization” states Matt.

Matt will attend Thomas A Stewart Secondary School in Peterborough while playing for the Petes as a student athlete.

Petes General Manager Jeff Twohey says “we are really excited to have Matt with us. He and his family made it clear from our first meeting in April that they wanted to play in the Ontario Hockey League. Matt is a player with talent and character, and is a great addition to our team.
