Bennett named BCHL Player of the Week after trio of 4-pt games

Press Release

Penticton Vees forward Beau Bennett has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending February 14th, the league announced Monday.

Bennett continued his scorching offensive pace last week, totalling six goals and eight assists in four games. Included in those totals were a trio of four-point nights, which the 18-year old picked up in wins over Trail, Merritt and Prince George. He also scored once and added an assist in a Friday evening loss to Vernon.

Since January 5th, Bennett has failed to hit the scoresheet just once in 17 games, and he has recorded 18 goals and 48 points during that span. He currently sits third in BCHL scoring heading into the final week of the regular season, just two points behind Salmon Arm's Mark Zengerle with three game remaining for both players.

Honourable mentions for this week's award included Trail's Kiefer Smiley, Penticton's Joey Laleggia, Vernon's Connor Jones and Cowichan Valley's Mike Hammond.

Bennett and the Vees return to action on Wednesday evening when they host the Vernon Vipers at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
