Van Voorhis Commits to University of Denver

Defenseman Matt Van Voorhis of Team USA has committed to attend the University of Denver following his USHL career.

The 17-year-old blueliner from Edina, Minnesota has recorded two points (1g, 1a) in 20 USHL games this season while playing for Team USA's Under-17 squad. He scored his first USHL goal in just his second game in the League on October 3rd during a 10-5 loss to the Chicago Steel.

Van Voorhis will be joined at the University of Denver by current teammates Zac Larraza, Nick Shore, and Jason Zucker of Team USA. Three other current USHL players are also committed to attend the school following their USHL careers; Garrett Allen (Fargo Force) David Makowski (Green Bay Gamblers), and Scott Mayfield (Youngstown Phantoms).

The Denver University Pioneers, members of the WCHA, have 10 former USHL players on their roster this season; Matt Donovan (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), John Lee (Waterloo Black Hawks), Paul Phillips (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Chris Knowlton (Des Moines Buccaneers), Jesse Martin (Tri-City Storm), Anthony Maiani (Sioux City Musketeers), Brian Gifford (Indiana Ice), John Ryder (Ohio Jr. Blue Jackets), Patrick Wiercioch (Omaha Lancers), and Nate Dewhurst (Des Moines Buccaneers).
