Wilson Commits to Yale University

Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Stu Wilson has committed to play collegiate hockey at Yale University and will attend the Ivy League school following his USHL career.

Wilson is playing in his first USHL season and has collected five points (1g, 4a) while appearing in 26 games for the RoughRiders. The 18-year-old native of Pittsford, New York scored his first USHL goal on Friday during the second period of the 9-6 victory over Fargo.

Two other current USHL players are committed to attend Yale University; Green Bay Gamblers forward Alex Kubiak and Sioux City Musketeers forward Clinton Bourbonais.

The Yale University Bulldogs are a member of the ECAC and have 10 former USHL players on the roster for the 2009-10 season; Sean Backman (Green Bay Gamblers), Josh Balch (Chicago Steel), Charles Brockett (Ohio Jr. Blue Jackets), Nick Jaskowiak (Tri-City Storm), Nick Maricic (Tri-City Storm), Jimmy Martin (Des Moines Buccaneers), Brian O'Neill (Chicago Steel), Dan Otto (Chicago Steel), Ryan Rondeau (Waterloo Black Hawks), and Andrew Miller (Chicago Steel) who was the 2008-09 USHL Player of the Year.

In addition, Yale assistant coach Eric Lind played in the USHL as a defenseman for the Des Moines Buccaneers during the 1996-97 season.
