Owatonna's Sloat headed to Bowling Green

Press Release

The Owatonna Express has announced that defenseman Jake Sloat has committed to Bowling Green State University (CCHA) for next season.

He’s the third player who competed in last month’s Sherwood/NAHL Top Prospects Tournament to commit to a Division I school after the event.

Through 49 games this season, Sloat, a 19-year-old from Louisville, Colo., is tied for 10th in scoring among NAHL defensemen with teammate Jake Suter with 25 points on six goals.

“Jake has worked very hard to earn this opportunity,” said Express head coach Pat Cullen. “He’s a very skilled young man and will be very successful at the next level. I couldn’t be happier for him.”

Bismarck Bobcats forward Casey Kleisinger (Air Force Academy) and Janesville Jets forward Rui Encarnacao (University of Connecticut) are the other two Top Prospects players who have committed to Division I schools since the event.
