Brendan Burke

Press Release

Brendan Burke, the 21-year-old son of Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager and owner of the Chilliwack Bruins, Brian Burke, passed away unexpectedly yesterday evening.

"On behalf of the Western Hockey League and all of our member Clubs we extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Brian and his family," commented WHL Commissioner Ron Robison, "The thoughts and prayers of the entire hockey community are with Brian and his family during this most difficult time."

Brendan was an assistant on the University of Miami (Ohio) hockey team, and had been working towards a career in hockey management.

To commemorate Brendan, Bruins players will be wearing a special patch on their jerseys for the remainder of the season

There will be a moment of silence before tonight’s home game vs the Kelowna Rockets.
