Ice Dogs' Tolkinen commits to Quinnipiac

Press Release

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs have announced that defenseman Zach Tolkinen has committed to Quinnipiac University (ECAC) for next season.

After 45 games this year, the 20-year-old-from Lino Lakes, Minn., has 11 goals for 28 points - fourth most among NAHL defensemen.

“We’re extremely happy for Zach and his family,” said Ice Dogs head coach Josh Hauge. “He’s worked extremely hard for this opportunity and we have no doubt he’ll be able to contribute right away at the Division I level.”

Tolkinen is the fifth player from this year’s Ice Dogs team to commit to a Division I school, joining forwards Michael Juola (Brown University), Jared Linnell (University of Alaska-Fairbanks) and Mark Pustin (University of Alaska-Anchorage) and goaltender Mike Taffe (University of Nebraska-Omaha).

Quinnipiac is located in Hamden, Ct.
