Cents Announce New Official Twitter Account

he Merritt Centennials are pleased to announce that they've launched a new official Twitter account.

The purpose of the account is to improve communications with other BCHL teams, broadcasters, fans and sponsors.

The first Tweet took place on July 10, 2012 announcing that @BCHLCentennials is the new Twitter account of the Cents and is excited to Tweet all the news regarding the organization.

Some of the topics that the tweets will cover include:

- up to the minute news and information
- notes on game schedules and times
- in game scoring updates

"Our previous Twitter handle of @merrittcents served us well, but we feel that by changing our account to include BCHL in the username, the potential for growth is much bigger," said Cents Media & Communications Coordinator Brian Wiebe. "Also, our previous account was integrated with our Facebook page and this new account won't be."

"As a result, each Facebook post will be tailored to include mentions and tags specific to that service while each Tweet will include hashtags and mentions specific to it," added Wiebe.

Posts to the old Twitter account (@merrittcents) will cease immediately as only the current account will now be used officially by the Centennials.
