kSoft Commits to Black Hawks

Press Release

During their 2012-2013 season, the Waterloo Black Hawks will travel to Russia, attempt to return to the Clark Cup Championship Series for the fifth time in ten years, and provide an opportunity for 23 talented players to reach the NCAA. A substantial partnership agreement with kSoft Corporation of Independence, Iowa announced Tuesday will help make all of those activities, and much more, possible.

Preparing to celebrate their fifth anniversary later this summer, kSoft develops customized software and technology solutions for businesses of all types and sizes. A Black Hawks marketing partner since 2009, Tuesday’s agreement makes the firm one of the franchise’s largest corporate partners.

“Our advertising opportunities with the Waterloo Black Hawks have given us additional exposure we wouldnt otherwise have access to,” said kSoft president and CEO Tim Morrison. “In addition to advertising, our season tickets provide us with an excellent incentive for our employees to meet their goals and allow us to treat our customers and vendors to the best entertainment in the Cedar Valley.”

Morrison, himself a software programmer, is an alumnus of Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo. He founded his international company in 2007. During the Hawks’ August trip to Russia, Morrison will accompany the team and meet with a software designer kSoft employs in Omsk.

“I’d like to thank Tim and everyone at kSoft for their expanding support and congratulate them on five great years. Our companies share many of the same values: hard work, innovation, and service to our respective customers,” said Black Hawks president Doug Miller. “It is the middle of summer, but our coaches and front office staff are putting in a lot of hours now in preparation for a great hockey season. kSoft has given us a tremendous boost towards making those efforts successful, and in turn, we will work hard to help them continue their success.”

During 2011-2012, the Hawks finished the regular season with a record of 35-19-6, won three playoff series, and met the Green Bay Gamblers for the United States Hockey League’s top prize, the Clark Cup. A new season of Waterloo hockey begins this fall after the Black Hawks travel to Omsk, Russia for the 2012 Junior Club World Cup in August. They will be the first USHL team to represent the nation during the event.
