Press Release

HAMILTON, ONT – Hamilton Bulldogs President and Alternate Governor Stephen Ostaszewicz announced today a three-year extension of the team’s partnership with the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs.

“The Hamilton Bulldogs are very pleased to be partnered with the Jr. Bulldogs to help unify the community through the game of hockey by promoting development and participation within the sport at the highest levels of amateur hockey,” said Ostaszewicz.

“We are pleased to be renewing our partnership and look forward to working closely with the Hamilton Bulldogs to our mutual benefit,” said Jr. Bulldogs Vice President of Administration Neil Maxwell.

The Jr. Bulldogs play out of the Mohawk 4 Ice Centre and currently have over 150 AAA players within the association.  As host of the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs Reebok Classic, the association brings more than 110 teams to Hamilton annually.  In 2012, the Jr. Bulldogs won the tournament at the Minor Peewee, Bantam and Minor Midget levels.  In 2013, the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs Reebok Classic will be held from December 6 – 8.

Five players from the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs organization were drafted in the Ontario Hockey League’s 2013 Priority Selection.  The players chosen were Stephen Templeton (Oshawa Generals), Scott Smith (Peterborough Petes), Aaron St-Pierre (Kingston Frontenacs), Cam McConnell (Kingston Frontenacs) and JC Thivierge (Plymouth Whalers).  Notable Jr. Bulldogs alumni in NHL organizations include Jarrod Maidens (Ottawa Senators), Evan McEneny (Vancouver Canucks) and Zac Rinaldo (Philadelphia Flyers).

As part of the program, the Hamilton Bulldogs will continue to lend their logo and colours to the Jr. Bulldogs and will support the minor hockey organization by hosting community practices and providing player and coaching mentorships throughout the year.  The partnership will also offer Jr. Bulldogs players discounts on Reebok / CCM hockey equipment.
