Sudbury hires new assistant

The Burgess Family and the Sudbury Wolves organization are pleased to anonunce that JEFF BEUKEBOOM has agreed to terms with the Sudbury Wolves to become the team's new Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2009-2010 season.
Sudbury Wolves Head Coach and General Manager Mike Foligno is pleased with the addition of the 14-year NHL veteran to the Wolves' coaching staff.

"Jeff is an outstanding coach and we are very pleased to have him join our coaching staff. He is an NHL veteran with four Stanley Cups. He is a champion and he will be able to provide excellent development benefits to our young defencemen." notes Foligno. He also adds that "we now have two of the best young coaches in the league with Associate Head Coach Bryan Verreault and Assistant Coach Jeff Beukeboom."

Beukeboom has won four Stanley Cups in his 14 year career including 3 with the Edmonton Oilers and one with the New Rangers. He is also an OHL alumnus as he played for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds from 1983-1986 after being selected by the Oilers in the first round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft.

"I am very excited to join the Sudbury Wolves organization as an Assistant Coach to Mike and Bryan" states Beukeboom. "I believe that I can contribute to the coaching staff and the organization and bring success to the City of Greater Sudbury." Beukeboom's previous coaching experience includes a stint with the Toronto Roadrunners of the AHL in 2003 -2004 and most recently as an assistant coach with the Barrie Colts last season.

With the announcement, the Sudbury Wolves also confirmed that Beukeboom replaces assistant coach Wade Bartley, who has elected to move to B.C. for family reasons. Bartley spent one year as an Assistant Coach for the Wolves. The Sudbury Wolves would like to thank Wade for his contributions to the organization and wish him well with his future pursuits.

Coach Beukeboom will join the rest of the coaching staff in the operation of this weekend's rookie Orientation Camp at the Countryside Arena.
