Bucs Defenseman Commits to Colorado College

Des Moines Buccaneers rookie defenseman Duggie Lagrone has committed to attend Colorado College following his USHL career.

Lagrone was selected by the Buccaneers in the 2011 USHL Entry Draft and has recorded one assist through five games this season. The 17-year-old is a native of Plano, Texas.

Lagrone’s Buccaneers teammate Matt Hansen is also committed to play hockey at Colorado College. Two other current USHL players – Christian Heil and Jaccob Slavin of the Chicago Steel – have committed to the school.

Colorado College is a member of the WCHA and currently has 17 USHL alumni on the roster; Joe Marciano (Omaha Lancers), Aaron Harstad (Green Bay Gamblers), Peter Stoykewych (Des Moines Buccaneers), Eamonn McDermott (Fargo Force), Jaden Schwartz (Tri-City Storm), Dakota Eveland (Omaha Lancers), Gabe Guentzel (Sioux Falls Stampede), Jordan DiGiando (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Alex Krushelnyski (Sioux City Musketeers), Charlie Taft (Muskegon Lumberjacks), Scott Wamsganz (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Ian Young (Fargo Force), Nick Dineen (Sioux Falls Stampede), Tim Hall (Ohio Junior Blue Jackets), Scott Winkler (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), William Rapuzzi (Green Bay Gamblers), and Joe Howe (Waterloo Black Hawks).

In addition, Colorado College head coach Scott Owens spent nine seasons in the USHL as a head coach (1986-91, 1995-99), and assistant coach Eric Rud was the head coach of the Green Bay Gamblers last season and also played for the Des Moines Buccaneers for two seasons (1991-93).
