Staples acquired from Frontenacs

Press Release

Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Dubas announced this morning that the team has acquired right-winger DYLAN STAPLES from the Kingston Frontenacs.

"Dylan is a young man that our scouts have really liked dating back two years to his OHL Priority Selection. Dylan is only 17 and we envision him being a key member of our club now and moving forward. Dylan is a RW who can also play centre if needed and is responsible in all zones. He is also a Northern Ontario kid, and I am sure he will be excited to return to the North” started Dubas.

In return Kingston will receive forward Trevor Morbeck and Windsor’s 10th Round pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection.

"Trevor is a tremendous young man and has a bright future ahead of him in hockey or any vocation that he chooses. He is a young man of elite character that will be a major asset to Kingston in the community, and class room” continued the Hounds GM.

“I understand Trevor's ambition to play in a more offensive role in his 3rd season, and when his agent Eddie Ward informed me on Monday afternoon that Trevor would like to be move we tried to facilitate that as soon as possible. We wish Trevor nothing but the best.”

Staples, a native of Callander ON is in his 2nd season in the OHL. In 13 games played in 2011-12 he has 1 goal and 2 assists.

The 6.00, 178 lb forward was originally selected in the 6th round of the 2010 OHL Priority Selection from the North Bay Trappers.

As a result of the trade, the Hounds and Frontenacs academic advisors will be working diligently on the matter and the academics of both boys will be unaffected by the transaction.

Staples will not be in the line-up tonight when the Hounds take on the Sarnia Sting (7:05 p.m.), although the newest Greyhound is scheduled to arrive in Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday.
