Yan Kalashnikov performs fine despite missing brother, linemate Artsiom

Press Release

Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward Yan Kalashnikov has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30, the league announced Monday.

Despite being without his brother Artsiom, who usually plays on the same line, Yan had his most productive weekend yet. The Minsk, Belarus native scored a natural hat trick and added an assist in a 1st-Star performance against the Langley Rivermen and followed up with a goal and three helpers in another victory over Prince George where he took 2nd Star.

Kalashnikov more than doubled his season scoring totals with the four-goal, four-assist weekend and now sits third in Alberni Valley scoring with seven goals and eight assists on the campaign.

Honourable mentions this week go to Nanaimo Clippers goalie Billy Faust (three games, three wins, one 1st Star, 2.00 GAA, .933 sv. %), Surrey Eagles forward Tyler Morley (two games, five goals, one 1st Star, one 2nd Star), Merritt Centennials forward Jakob Reichert (two games, four goals, one GWG in OT) and Nanaimo Clippers defenceman David Iacono (three games, three assists, two 3rd Stars).
